Lifescan sent me a new meter the VERIO IQ it is awesome!! it has a colour screen and you can set alerts to see low and high patterns so you can learn to adjust insulin.
It is backlit so you can use it in the dark, and it lights up the test strip too so you can see what your doing rather than just lighting up the screen. which helps when you work shifts and get home at 2am and your other half is asleep. it doesnt make any annoying beepy noises like the insulinx ( no backlight and a very loud BEEEEEP!) it uses hardly any blood too and the clicker doesnt even hurt its the soft click (again insulinx has a violent clicky thing made me feel like a pin cushion) changing my blood glucose testing strips on my prescription to these just because the meter is soooooo FREAKING COOL

see the insulinx is good it shows you patterns too, you can download your own picture to the meter test screen but it has no backlight and makes the annoying beep that wakes people up. and the clicky thing hurts but it is very good.

I love my new verio iq its amazing its stylish and it lights up the test strip makes late nigh testing sooo much easier.
If you can get one DO IT!!!!

Press and hold the menu button for 3 seconds on the insulinx & it will turn the backlight on, then press the bottom rh screen icon to turn on the strip port light. Also you can turn the sound off in the settings menu.

I've got this meter too, it is brilliant isn't it :) the only downside I have found is my GP has restricted me to 100 test strips a month, been ok so far 'cos I got 50 with it, don't know how it will work out in the future though, I test 3-5 times a day, more if I'm unwell or feeling low or high. Hmmm we shall see. The meter though is the best I have ever used :)
