I’ve just started the Omnipod 5 first 2 days weren’t to bad sugars were going up but coming down since yesterday it’s just been a nightmare sugars have gone high glad to say they are coming down a little now as I am letting the pump work rather than trying to correct at 3 hrs while there’s still insulin being released as anybody experienced similar sort of experience when first starting omnipod as I can only find positive reveiws

Hi carlos I have been using Omnipod 5 since February 2025. I can relate to your experiences. It takes the algorithm some time to learn about you and your insulin requirements. I found it difficult to let the pump take control. You may need to make some adjustments to for example to your carbs to insulin ratios and your correction factor. Mine are quite different on the Omnipod 5 than they were on Omnipod Dash.

Hope you are getting some follow-up & support from your pump team.

Let us know how things go. Good luck

Thank you for your reply yes I have a follow up appointment in a week I didn’t quite realise the difference from injections they did say stick at it it just surprised how long it’s taking to come down but will stick at it prefer than injecting wasn’t for me

Unfortunately it does take time for things to settle. For me it took about a month. Make full use of your appointment. Go armed with questions. For me it was things like maintaining line of site. For me I can only use my arms.

The other big issue for me is not being able to hear alarms overnight. I am deaf and wear hearing aids which I take out at night.

Like you not having to inject is a massive plus of being on a pump. Keep up the hard work
