Omnipod 5 on the NHS

I'm eligible for a closed loop system and my healthcare team said they would order me an omnipod 5 but I can only keep it if I use less than 50 units per day,
To be honest some days I use around 50 units but some days I use a little more,
My question is since going over to a closed loop system has any ones overall daily insulin dosage gone down compared to their overall daily dosage with multiple injections

The Omnipod is designed to use for 3 days, and holds 200 units of insulin.
So you'd still have dome leeway going a little over 50 units a day, worth mentioning to your team if you'd like to switch to the Omnipod 5.

No answer to your other question, I'm on injections.

Hi sebg

I am an Omnipod 5 user. Moved from Omnipod Dash to Omnipod 5 in January 2025. I think I use more insulin since moving to a pump from multiple injections. At that point I was early in my diabetes journey, probably still in the honeymoon phase so it was expected that my insulin requirements would rise.

Peoples requirements may change when on closed loop some go up, others do down. Probably best to speak with the pump team to get their advice.

Good luck with this
