omnipod app release?

Hi. I too am waiting as I think there are a few significant planned improvements. I asked ChatGPT and it seems as though late 2026 or early 2027 is the planned roll out for the uk.

Dear user,

We are writing to inform you that in the coming days a software update will be made available to users which includes system improvements to your Omnipod® 5 Controller. When the update is ready for you, you will receive a notification on your Omnipod 5 Controller to install a software update to version 4.0.3. Instructions on the Controller screen will walk you through the process of installing this update.
The updated version will enable Omnipod 5 users to integrate with the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor:
  • The FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus sensor will become a sensor option in the select sensor menu​

We strongly recommend installing the update as soon as possible to ensure that you are using the latest software. Please note, if you choose not to update to the latest software at this time, it will become mandatory at a later date.
If you are planning to connect a different sensor with Omnipod 5, please note the following:
  1. Speak to your Healthcare Professional to discuss the change. If agreed, you will:
    • Need to request a prescription for the new sensor.​
    • Request training on how to use the new sensor from your Healthcare Professional.
  2. Please check the compatibility of your Pods which is highlighted on the Pod Tray lid and in the top right-hand corner of the Box of Pods
    • Please use your existing Pods and sensors before switching to a new sensor.​
    • Consult your HCP if, once you will have switched sensors, your Pods would no longer be compatible with your new sensor.​

Please note:
To install the Omnipod 5 software update:
  • Ensure the Controller battery is charged to above 15%.​
  • We advise patients to take the software update using a strong Wi-Fi connection.​

I’ve now got the new software on my controller. I’ve found out that if you are on the Libre 2 plus you will benefit from the new improved features, but only when you have the compatible pods. The compatible pods say “R1” on the top right hand corner of the tray lid.

At the moment all of my current stock say “ RX only”. So I’ll have to just wait for whenever the new ones drip through in the usual supply chain from Insulet.

Thought it might be helpful to share because I had to go digging to find the info.
 
Thanks for that. My controller updated last night. The only change I noticed was that the alarms / alerts are louder. I use Dexcom G7 so that is maybe why I have noticed anything else
 
We updated two days ago. The biggest change was that it now no longer connects to the cloud when not on our Wi-Fi, so we can no longer get data forwarded to librelinkup on our phones. The controller alarm is still a pathetic “bong”, which was why we were using a linked phone.

Now that link is broken, so away from home, or when it’s noisy, we effectively don’t hear alarms.

This is dangerous, insulet need to fix it before rolling out further. When we contacted them, all they said was it they recommended being on Wi-Fi whenever possible - it’s not always possible! (And their own advice is only to use trusted Wi-Fi anyway.)

We have also found that trying to connect to one Wi-Fi , then another, it forgets the password to the first. Clearly absolutely no real life user testing of the whole connectivity but if the latest “update”.

I’m just surprised to hear about your WiFi issues with the new software because I was out and about yesterday and not attached to a specific Wi-Fi. I was connected to G and I also use the LibreLink app so I can get readings on my phone and watch. I crossed my low alarm threshold and my phone definitely alarmed through LibreLink? But I’ll have another look today when I go out shopping.
