Hi I’m a type one diabetic and have been for 14 years now. I’ve been looking into tubeless pumps for a little while. I did do a trail pump with tubes when I was 10 and hated that you could see it and it got court on everything! Anyway I’ve just done the free taster of the Omnipod dash (No needles. It’s just empty) and want to do the real thing. But what I want to know is how you go about doing it? What website to get it from if I have to pay for it or weather I need to talk to my doctors. There’s just not much I can research online and I’ve been looking for weeks. Would like to get it soonish but I understand if not. Sorry it’s very long. TIA

Have you spoken to your healthcare team about wanting a pump? That would be the first step you need to take if you haven't already done so, and find out what the criteria are for getting a pump funded at your hospital. There have been a few threads recently about getting pumps on the NHS that you might want to have a look at. There can be a lot of hoops to jump through, even if you meet the criteria and chances are you would have to wait a while before you got one, even without the coronavirus delaying things. I was on the priority list at my clinic and it was still about a year between my consultant applying for the funding and actually having the pump. Some hospitals require you to have undertaken DAFNE training or may have other similar requirements.
Does your hospital/clinic have other pump users? Even if you are self-funding you would need to have a team who know what they are doing with your pump. A lot of hospitals also don't offer the full range of pumps available to those who have had funding approved, when I first got my pump I had a choice of I think 4 different pumps, I've changed hospitals now and when my warranty runs out I have a choice of 2, some hospitals don't offer a choice.
I use a medtronic 640g so I'm not able to offer any advice on the omnipod or it's costs.
That's a lot of information there, but definitely talk to your DSN as a first step :)
