Omnipod urgent please help?!

Hello all.

I hope we are all well.

I live in the United Kingdom and approx 3 hours ago my omnipod 5 got a system error. I tried a further 3 pods and got within seconds the same error. I rang up omnipod customer support and tried a further 4 pods and same error.

By chance the other day I threw away my old back up insulin as it was due to expire and for 4 years I’ve been on omnipod dash/5 and never had any issues.

I have currently set up my omnipod dash whilst there is/was issues and approx an hour later (just as I get back to sleep) omnipod ring back and ask me to factory reset. After a factory reset it appears that it may have fixed the issue and my omnipod 5 is now set up.

My question is, I’m hesitant to take off my omnipod dash as I only have 1 spare left as a backup and I’m worried my omnipod 5 may malfunction. Am I safe to keep the dash and 5 on?.

Unfortunately it’s the weekend and I have no one to contact to ask this until Monday. I am going to ask for back up insulin Monday too!.

Any other advice/help?

Thanks.

Hi @Coreylewis1996 & welcome to the forum :)

I can’t help with your question as I’m T2 diet only, also anyone on the forum isn’t allowed to give medical advice, it’s still early morning here as you know so the forum is quiet, someone may be along later to share their experience.

The best thing for you to do in your situation is call NHS 111 and explain to them your situation and they will be able to advise you on what to do

Sorry I couldn’t have been of more help :)

Hi thanks for your response. I have spoken to 111 and they wasn’t much help that’s why I thought I may contact someone here who may have a similar experience. Thank you

Morning Coreylewis 1996

Hope things are ok this morning. Do you still have your Omnipod dash on and working ? If so as you only have one spare pod left I would leave it on. I presume Omnipod are sending you replacements pods for your Omnipod 5 ?
Also have you managed to source some more back up insulin. when this happens you realise why you need it.
Sorry I cannot be more help

Yeah you’re right, I’ll just use my dash for now and wait for my replacement. Managed to get 2 hours sleep. Awaiting 111 to call back. Thanks for your advice
