Omnipod

OK I have decided that I would like to fund privately until I reach the top of the waiting plist, but does anyone know if paying privately compromises getting one on the NHS eventually?

It honestly depends I've heard of people who have been told if they go private they'll be taken off the NHS list and others who have gone private but still stayed on the NHS list. It'd probably be best asking your consultant what the rules are surrounding that for your area before you privately fund anything
 
So I had an appointment this afternoon at a neighbouring clinic and - I am going to move onto a pump!! I couldn't be more pleased. I am going to have to self-fund at least initially, but they were so helpful and understanding, and hopefully things might change in terms of funding. It was well worth persisting and thanks to all of you who made the suggestion to change clinics and to stick at it.
 
Good news! I changed clinics and after several months of negotiation I now have an Omnipod 5. Early days, but so far, so very good. I am having to fund this privately, but for a tenner a day it's more than worth it, and I hope things might change soon. I'm so pleased. The persistence has paid off, and the new clinic is being so supportive. Thank you all for your support and encouragement.
