Well tonight I tried the dual wave for the first time. I have stayed off pasta for ages but really fancied a dish of homemade spaghetti bolognese for supper. I went with the 50/50 option and the remaining bolus over 3 and a half hours. Blood sugars at the two hour mark is 6.9 - really happy with that. We'll see what happens now over the next few hours! I do love pasta and I'm hoping I will get the hang of this so that I can enjoy a small bowl now and again (I had 50g tonight) - will be handy for Feb when we go to Rome to watch Wales play Itay in the rugby  My husband is also hoping it works as he loves pasta and at the moment I don't cook it often.
I know a lot of people use the dual wave option reglularly but for me, who's a bit of a scardeycat, it was a big thing so I'm pleased with myself.

Disaster!! Blood sugars at bedtime 5.2 and 7.4 at midnight. Then did my usual middle of the night test at 2.30am and blood sugars over 13!! Did the correction on the pump and tested again in 2 hours - now at 12.8!! Did a further correction and put on a TBR of 140%. 2 hours later coming down slowly so upped TBR to 150% . Blood sugars on wakening 7.7.
I have had stable blood sugars for over 6 weeks (never over 8 even with the noro virus last week - urghh) so im thinking it must be the pasta?? I find it difficult to believe that pasta is the cause of this - but very co-incidental if its not! Do others struggle like this with it? So disappointed after a great start!!

If this can help - I cant tollerate pizza at all - it sends my levels soaring and rocketing way tooo high .
So pizza's are 'OUT' for me completely.

A small cup of rice or pasta is my 'LIMIT' to keep my levels stable .
This is the only way I can 'do' this by a small cup measured amount .

I cant help with the pump info but can chime in about the pasta, rice, pizza effects!!!

Hope this little bit can help you along Riri .

Anna.

I got similar results to you when i tried pasta with my daughter last weekend!
I bolused up front for everything apart from the pasta and then multiwaved for the pasta over 4 hours, hypo after 90mins, then good stable levels until about 1am when she had shot up to 13 and stayed at that the rest of the night.
Next time i feel like braving pasta with her i plan to extend over 30mins everything apart from the pasta and then put the carbs in for the pasta 2 hours after she's eaten and extend over 4 hours. This is because when on injections i used to inject for the pasta 2 hours after she'd eaten and then give a small extra injection 2 hours after that which sort of worked!

I tried to multiwave when she wanted milkshake with her lunch but that didn't work either!
Tonight i'm going to brave extending for chocolate after dinner in the hope that i can try and get it worked it for Christmas.

Thanks all for the replies. Sorry, but I'm kind of glad that others have had this result as I was beginning to think it may have been something else affecting my sugars - so many variables!!!

Cant say that I get wonderfully good bg levels using the waves on my Combo so tend to avoid pizzas if I can as they tend to make my bg levels launch into the sky......

Have eaten gluten free pasta though but not great amounts and that doesn't seem to affect me too much. I think you can buy gluten free pasta and spaghetti in most of the supermarkets so could have a go with them.

Don't apologise Riri, we will get there in the end!

I've got advanced pump training with the Roche rep tomorrow so hoping to find out about these problem foods.

Extending for an hour to cover chocolate didn't work, 6.8 before eating, 10.0 after 2 hours and 10.0 after 3 hours with no lows inbetween so going to try extending over 2 hours next time and see what happens!

iHs, i hadn't thought of using gluten free pasta so that might be another idea to try - why does it have a different effect on levels after eating? Thanks
