My first meeting with my DN was immediately after diagnosis a month ago and was just a chat and leaflets. Today I had my first proper meeting, and came away feeling very satisfied.
Urine sample was good - no sugar, protein or blood.
Feet checked - strong pulse, no loss of feeling (despite having chemotherapy-induced neuropathy in them).
Appointments ordered for retina check and invitation for Xpert course.
Discussion about carbs. She agrees these should be cut and not eaten as per the "healthy plate" guidelines. She nodded in agreement at my 130gms a day.
Discussion about a meter. I can have one if I insist, after my next HbA1c test in April, but should only use it once a week to test a new food.
I am a model patient, well motivated, and she thinks I will be able to avoid meds and see a decrease in my levels next test.
