This is crazy I know but surely one Maynards Sherbet Lemon can’t cause a spike or can it? My tum was quite empty and because I was out I had a quick sweeetie. One and half hours later when I got home my reading was 6.8mmol! What! I don’t even get this high a reading after a normal low carb meal.

It depends where you started and how many carbs you usually eat, I looked it up and 1 sherbet lemon sweet from Sainsburys has just under 7g carb - all of which sugar so this would hit your bloodstream quickly and most likely produce a spike as opposed to a low carb meal of 7g with fibre fat etc to slow the rise down and smooth the curve.

Thankyou very much for this. My goodness who would ever guess. Maybe a bit like eating a tangerine on its own on an empty stomach which spikes badly. Thankyou.

If I feel very hungry I buy a bottle of water, this usually puts me on until I get home. If I know I’m going to be out for quite a while I put a babybel in my bag and have that, as this doesn’t give me a spike.

Why lightest ones? The fat in a normal one (that the light or not refers to) won’t hurt bgl and will fill you up more
You’re correct it would. I’m just watching my cholesterol as it’s 5.5 this time (usually in the 40’s)…just doing this until my next check up ☺️
