Dreamer! Does not happen in my county. My T1D friends have to travel 40 miles out of County for T1D training and follow up. Another T1D on a pump has never had a course offered at all, and gets it from the only DCN in our county. I have never been offered any training, but I did get to see the DCN a couple of times, and see a nutritionist once in my 10 years T2DIn most cases it will be part of your initial treatment by whoever diagnosed you.
Once diagnosed you should be scheduled for an education course along with subsequent annual testing, although this may not be immediate and may take some time to come through the system.
I would check with your GP or DSN.
