Absolutely fantastic news that is. You should be over the moon with yourself. Sounds like a lot of hard work and the changes have paid off. Take that to the health bank you’ve just become today’s health millionaire. Treasure it my friend chances like that are hard earned with determination and grit. Happy daysI was diagnosed T2D in February last year. My fasting blood sugar was over 12, my h a1c was 78. I was 80kg, had high blood pressure and I was on statins, the full metabolic syndrome. Quite by chance I heard of someone who had reversed his diabetes, so I researched and came across lchf and diet doctor and diabetes.co.uk. So I started on lchf. Within 3 months my Hba1c was down to 35, I had lost 10kg, had stopped taking blood pressure meds (I was on 2) and I stopped taking statins. My fasting blood sugar was 5-5.5. One year after the diagnosis, I weigh 61kg, and all my health markers are normal. My last h a1c (October) was 34 and my blood sugar this morning was 5.2. I have probably never been so well in my life.
I cycle 8.5 miles to work 2 to 3 time’s a week, and do resistance training. I have never eaten so well, and my treats consist of a glass of red wine a few times a week and a small amount of Montezuma’s fabulous 100% chocolate!
At first I felt very bad about the diagnosis, but every cloud has a silver lining as my health is now really good.
You have done amazing and as you say the great thing is that’s it’s made you take action to improve your health which in turn has enriched your enjoyment of life. I don’t think I’ve felt so well in many a year since I decided to sort my health out.
What a wonderful achievement and such an inspiration to others who have just started - excellent results well done you a real superstar

Can you please share with us your breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks?
Curious to know!
Well done simsussex, it’s great here isn’t it?! I’ve got my HbA1c down to a non diabetic level and have lost a chunk of weight due to this Forum and Diet Dr in my nine months since diagnosis. I too am on bp meds but my bp is now normal so I’m hoping to drop at least one of my two bp meds at my review this month. Did you reduce your bp meds gradually or just stop them dead?
Gradually. I stopped one then started halving and quartering until giving them up altogether. My gp was against it but I gave it a go anyway. My bp has gone from 140/90 with meds to 125/75 without. Lchf is like a wonder cure
Sure
Breakfast is usually something like bacon and eggs, cheese and mushroom omelette, smoked fish, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, mushroom and bacon. Usually egg based.
Lunch during the week is always some kind of salad, fish, cheese, ham, chorizo. Weekends will usually be veg soup or something like Caesar salad
Dinner is usually fish or meat with 2 types of veg, with cheese and walnuts as pud and ALWAYS about 15g of 100% chocolate. Sometimes with a glass of red.
Snacks are usually Brazil nuts or almonds, or a piece of ham or cheese.
I do eat berries but only in summer and the occasional apple in autumn
I use various websites for recipes, and have a great book “Silver Spoon” with loads of Italian recipes for vegs
I feel I eat really well and am not missing out on much. In fact I eat a greater variety of food now than I used to
Hope that helps
Why? He feels great, doesn't feel like he's missing out and all the health markers are wonderful. Of course he can try if he wants to, but if not, that seems perfectly fine to me.How about some carbs ie whole meal bread etc?
How about some carbs ie whole meal bread etc?
No. As I understand it, whole meal is still a refined carb. I stick with what works and am quite strict about it. It took a while to get used to it, but it’s fine now
Real food... did you not read what he says he eats?I’m just wondering if you don’t have any carbs at all, where do you get your energy from?
