As people can see from previous threads that I am experiencing difficulty getting my BG down and believed other medications I take are one of the problems. Was taken off Warfarin,my choice, and prescribed Rivaroxoban 3 months ago.BG levels through the roof, now post meal 18.DN has increased my doseage of gliclazide from 80mg to 160mg but readings the same.I am convinced the Rivaroxoban is interacting with the Gliclazide and reducing the effect of the Gliclazide.Even the instructions for the Gliclazide state that certain meds ie Warfarin or Anti co-ags will impair the productivity of the Gliclazide..My question is (A)has anyone else had this experience.(B)Why continue to prescribe Gliclazide if Rivaroxoban is redering it ineffective.Foot note..Changed from Warfarin to Rivaroxoban due to unstable levels.

Have you consider switching to MDI treament as some type 2 may have problem control their bs with oral medicine only. Most type 2 will consider themselves as failure if need to switch to insulin but that is not the case because sometime we just need some extra help. But since i am not a doctor i cannot advice more than that so i recommend have a nice talk with your GP and follow his recommendation. Please take care of yourself.

Hi. A few points. I can't comment on the possible effect of the Rivaroxoban, but if the Gliclazide isn't working and your blood sugar isn't being controlled I would suspect being LADA and not T2? What is your BMI? Also, Gliclazide isn't advised when you are on insulin normally only Metformin of the diabetes drugs. If you are not overweight I would discuss your diabetes diagnosis with the GP/DN and perhaps focus on the insulin and the Basal/Bolus regime if not already on Basal/Bolus. I repeat that there may be an effect of your other medications that may be influencing your situation so my comments needs to be taken in that context.
