At least you can tell the difference on labels and the internet by the difference in spelling (fibre, UK fiber US)
They also often give the nutritional info per serving rather than per 100g . They use serving size on labels too, so it's as well to be aware; Sometimes products labelled in the US are sold in the UK (I've seen low carb products, nuts and seeds )
On one forum people were extolling the properties of a new cracker. It had, they said, more fibre than carbs. A truly miracle product with a negative net carb value. Sadly for them it was a cracker made and labelled in Sweden with the fibre already deducted and listed separately.
