If Konjac choked you, I'd be well dead! There is quite a choice of brands. I've tried two. The first was Zero noodles. I found them very odd in texture, and rather expensive, but given that they replace forbidden (to me) pasta, I was prepared to buy more. But then I discovered my great love, the Eat Water Slim range. Not everyone likes them, but to me the penne, fettucine and rice are more than acceptable. I honestly don't think I'd have known they weren't the real thing. There are other pasta shapes as well, but I haven't tried them. One 200g (drained weight) packet does me for 2 meals. I spoon out half the pasta, leaving the other half in the packet in most of the liquid, rinse well (indispensable as the fluid they are stored in smells bad) and just warm up in a heavy saucepan. They don't need any cooking - another plus! I then fold over the top of the packet, clip shut, and store in the fridge stood in a plastic container in case it leaks. Like that it will keep several days. As Holland & Barratt has them on offer at present I have invested in lots (really lots - I discovered that they offer an additional £5 off if you order enough to spend £40. So I did! I now normally eat them twice a day, so I'll be getting through them. I wouldn't advise ordering in bulk until you have tried them, though, just in case. They contain zero carbs, 9 calories per 100g and 4g fibre per 100g.I've bought a packet because ........... well just thought I'd give them a go as a change from courgettes, I was also thinking of trying konjac but I didn't like the warning that they might choke you. Anyone tried these?
They are 6.1g carbs per 100g. Note that Oomi noodles are not konjac but are made of fish protein. I couldn't detect any fish smell or flavour.Never heard of them here Googled them and it said 75% less Carbs. Another pet hate Less Than What ?? How many carbs ??? why don't supermarkets insist that their suppliers say what it is 75% less than or perhaps they do not want customers to be well informed
Magic, thanks so so much for the info about both things. I'm sure others will find your info really useful. It's a pleasure, but do check for yourself before investing too many £!. I never heard that you need extra fluid with Konjac. I suppose with 4g fibre per 100g you need a certain amount of fluid, but 4g fibre is not huge. IMO plenty of fluid is helpful to bg anyway, if nothing else to prevent the dreaded constipation (an ever-present threat for me).Magic, thanks so so much for the info about both things.
