My levels are all over the place again and I'm finding it hard to keep "happy"

I've been taken off the Novarapid and now on metformin with Levimir to see how I go.

New blood tests were done on friday and I've been told that it could take a month to get the GAD results back to determine if I'm really type one or if I'm type two. I've been treated as type 1 for 3 months, before that I wasn't diabetic at all.

Today I woke with a reading of 6.4
After having a measured amount of cereal and being active I rose to 10.4 for lunch
Lunch was Mcd's (yes I know I shouldn't have had it) my levels rose to 20.4 - ketones were 0.0
I checked again after 3 hours and my levels were 18.2 then I realised I forgot to take metformin with my meal!
I've been really active this afternoon too, and not eaten anything this evening yet as still full from lunch.

When I'm having a none active day my levels drop by the time I do readings though admittedly I'm more mindful of what I put in my mouth too!

Active days usually spike higher readings, this is really frustrating and results in binge eating.

My Hbc1 results are down to 6.3 - no idea what this means but the diabetic team are pleased with it.

Not really looking for advice, just having a vent, I know I need to be more careful with what I eat and remember to take the metformin especially on a higher carb meal.

It's going to be rough until you actually know what type you have as they require different management.

We all have less than perfect days, I got my dose for a pancake wrong yesterday and ended up high.

Keep talking to your team, especially if you see numbers in the 20s again.

agree with @Diakat--- as the management of the 2 types is treated quite differently( at diagnosis ) until you have a proper diagnosis you may not be getting the meds appropriate to you

I'll call them again tomorrow, I'm sure they get fed up of me calling in!

I avoided pancakes as would have put golden syrup or sugar on them so stayed out of the kitchen whilst everyone else enjoyed making and eating them. I had a lovely chicken salad instead.

that would be my reaction as well !! -- IE the pancakes

Well done for not having pancakes, hope you get some news soon.
Take care
