Hi folks, first post but long time lurker.

I have been Type 2 since about 2009 and to put it lightly I didn't really take it seriously for the past decade, despite retinopathy and other more serious complications :(

Fast forward to this year, I had a COVID scare around January and it really frightened me knowing that I was in such poor health I wouldn't be able to come back back from COVID if I did get it. Decided right there it get myself sorted and had a hbA1c done. It came back at 70, not horrendous (previous 83 is my record) but still high. Anyways they have me n 1000mg Metformin, 60mg diamicron and they added 10mg of Jardiance.

Happy to report according to my freestyle libre my hbA1c is coming in around 60 now and I have lost about 7kg. However, now it seems I can't keep my bloods UP and I regular head towards 4.0 and lower after dinner every evening. Am I on too much medication?

Hi @edithhef and welcome!

Sounds like you’ve made some great changes there. While we can’t advise on medications here, in your shoes I’d definitely be having a conversation with the GP about reducing or changing medication to reflect your progress. It would seem a shame to need to eat to your medication, as it were.

If I'm not mistaken, Diamicron is a sulfonylurea drug that stimulates the productions of insulin in the pancreas. That means it's one that needs to be titrated to get the right dose and needs to be modified when lifestyle factors change your insulin need. I agree with @Goonergal. You need to stay in touch with your doctor to manage your dose.
