Optimism / Pessimism Type2

I find that Type2 Diabetes comes with both Optimism & Pessimism

Optimistic that there is some Insulin being naturally produced.

Optimistic that diet and weight loss (to reach best BMI) can improve the situation alongside pills (diet and weight loss underway; drastic carb reduction). My pills etc are covered in the post (viewtopic.php?f=25&t=47685&p=430416#p430220)

Optimistic that there are fantastic people on here able and willing to advise whenever (thankyou)

Pessimistic because the Doctor seems to think only 1 ideal and that is Insulin or Byetta (my sugars have been worse but so have my carbs!)

Pessimistic that Insulin is going to balloon weight

#Pessimistic that some friends on Insulin seem to think and suggest "eat what they want" and just take more insulin. Seems a bit accepting defeat. I KNOW THAT THE VERY HIGH PERCENTAGE OF TYPE1 ARE NOT LIKE THIS. My friend get hairs standing on my back.. sort of "going to buy some revels and then up some insulin.. have a nice day!" comments to me ;-(

Pessimistic when folks say the above (disappointed etc) as #

Im giving it my 101% to try get sugars back in control but don't know if this is a short term before the inevitable. Would love to hear from folks who have reversed things (NOT Diabetes as that likely pie in sky)) and got things back on track with the pills and strict diet and weight plan.

Thankyou

My blood sugars were really high in may this year. I was prescribed 2x500 metformin and decided to really watch my diet and try to lose some weight. Since then I have lost about a stone and a half and when I went to see my dn a couple of weeks ago she told me that my blood sugars are normal. I know that I am still diabetic and can't go back to my old ways, but I feel 100% better than I did earlier this year. Good luck with getting your diabetes under control. Deb

Optimism on my part, Meoman (big smiley). After a year, I got my A1c down to 5.4%. I have certainly watched my carb intake over the year but never went as far as to weigh, measure and calculate the carbs in my foods – kind of know now which foods are rather carby and should be avoided.

It is a long time since I posted on the forum – was kind of shot down when I first came here.
