Oranges

High in fructose (fruit sugars).

And because oranges are 'juicy' the sugars get into your blood stream even faster.

Are you type 1 or 2? If type 2, you may have to kiss oranges goodbye!

The trouble is that when you are type 2 you aren't able to match medication to specific foods/meals, whereas we type 1s can shoot insulin for what we might be eating on a particular day...

Do you exercise a lot? If so, you could use oranges for energy when you exercise and with any luck the exercise will lower your blood glucose enough to negate the effects of the oranges...

Fair point, Choco, but you know what I mean - those people who aren't on insulin!

Garry, I would seriously, seriously recommend you speak to your GP and/or DSN and ask to be put on a basal/bolus insulin regime.

This type of system allows you to inject the exact amount of insulin you need, rather than having to fot your diet around it. It might mean you can eat oranges again!
