Hi

Anyone diagnosed with monogentic diabetes or MODY diabetes is another name.?

If so did it change anything for. Your managment of diabetes?

Hi
Diagnosed with MODY 1 nearly 2 years ago after being diabetic for 25 years
I was already on 20mg of gliclazide so my treatment didn’t change
DSN had already given me a libre as nobody believed what I was eating & taking & my reaction to it
Bloodsugar101 is a good website for information
Anything you want to know just ask

Thank you, I'll take a look at the website. I will most likely invest in fressytle sensor if going on insulin. I'm hoping to turn a corner in getting these sugars down

Have you got a MODY diagnosis?

if you are MODY, depending on the type, you may be changed to gliclazide tablets,
Try asking your team for libre on prescription

No I have a bloods test next week for the MODY

I have been on gliclizide didn't do much. Asked them but they said the rules are so strict they can't do on prescription

That’s strange usually people with MODY have a strong reaction to the smallest dose of gliclazide (I can hypo on 20mg which isn’t a recognised therapeutic dose)
Why do they suspect MODY?

Because other meds tablet wise haven't worked for me make me ill and sick, then they said because I had diabetes from 17years which is very young. I was on 80mg gliclizide for about 6 weeks and didn't make them any lower than 10. 5 from 18-19.

I reacted best to insulin in 2020 and that's what I'm starting in on 13th a long acting one to see what happens.

Hope the insulin works for you & you get the answers you need
Just be prepared for a long wait to get the results back, mine took nearly 3 months
You will get there, hope you feel better soon (I felt sick at some point every day for about 2 years on gliclazide, don’t know if it was the medication or blood sugars)
Take care
