hi all
out of hospital (at last). to day saw the diabetic specialist and told the only option now left for me is to try a pump. after trying 5 tablets and changing insulin twice and given several drips they have reduced my bloods down to 16/19 after trying a pump for 6 days was down to 8/9 but had to give pump it up. so NOW they say a pump is best option. asked if I was type 1 or 2 and still not give a diagnosis????. told should be on pump just after new year.

So you tried a pump... Have they told you they are applying to your CCG for funding?

What treatment have they sent you home with?

I'm staggered that they find a treatment that got ur levels lowered and didn't allow you to stay on it. They obviously had a pump for using on different patients in there...

I suspect he was on a syringe driver not an insulin pump :)

Hello, It's good to hear you are out of hospital, but you still don't know if you type 1 or 2 ?
I do hope you can get a proper diagnosis very soon.

Good luck and all the best

Pleased you are out of hospital.
If you have been offered a pump then I suspect you would be type1 as it's very rare for a type 2 to be given a pump.

hi
they say they have applied to the ccg. and that I should be on a pump first week in January. I have been sent home on usual insulin and two tablets twice a day any singe of ketos I am to go back. none up to now. bm was 16.3 this morning and at lunch 16.3 (that very good for me) the pump they had me on they say is the only working one they have and so could not let me loan it at this time. so I will just have to hope thatb the ccg is as quick as the hospital think they will be.

My CCG agred within 1 week... It depends on secretarys/nurses/consultants writing the letters...

I've had 2 pumps so far and both times the CCG came good within a week of my appt.

Phil are you on large amount of insulin still?

Hi Phil

Did you ever discuss u500 insulin with them?

Pleased you are out of hospital.

Under certain circumstances like extreme resistance, type 2's who use insulin, can use a pump. What needs to change, is the NICE ctiteria.

I did point out it was rare, so that does equate to it does happen and as from OP's post he doesn't mention insulin resistance!
Like many I can not remember everyone's problems from previous posts.

hi
I am on a lot of insulin at this time lantus 90 units morning and night and apidra 3 times a day on a 1 unit to every gram of carbs. u500 has been talked about.

Phil

Talked about U500... Why have you not been put on it?

As a pump only takes a max of 300 units in a cartridge then it is going to be pumping through a lot...

U500 can go in a pump as well, and would be less insulin going through.

Why have you not been put on it?
