Hi everyone.
My blood sugar has been so high for 2 weeks ..
My pump is set to 130%, I overbolus on everything and nothing works.. averaging 10-13mmol despite every attempt to get it down..

Yes, I am tired
Yes, I am really stressed
Yes, I have had a touch of flu
But it's consuming me.. nothing is working.

I am frustrated, so so frustrated.
And angry!

I know that this too, shall pass and things will settle.
But I can't seem to settle the emotional response to this perpetual high. It's consuming me.

Please give me a virtual hug and tell me I am not alone going through this. I just need some support

It is the high blood sugar making you all emotional! It really does do funny things to your thinking.

Are you applying sick day rules? Have you tested for ketones? Are you drinking lots of water?

Hey @CherylEwing
sorry to welcome you on a sad note :(
but we are pleased to have you on the team !!

sorry to probably go over old ground
but have you ...........

changed set
changed insulin ( new vial out of fridge )
applying sick day rules

whenever I come down with an illness it does seem to take ages to get back to routine and normal BG's

try and hang in there
and Know you are being thought of to feel better :)
#all the best !!

Just a suggestion, but have you done a basal test? Many people at this time of year suddenly need extra insulin, my basal has shot up by 6 units over a 24 hour period so like you temp basals running whilst basal testing at different times of the day, yes like you more than slightly peed off with such a jump.

Have just had to increase my own basal (evening and overnight) @CarbsRok - just by 1u over 24hrs (around 7% I think that is) but potentially with more changes once I've identified how I'm getting on with it. Glad to have read your post - am reassured.

@CherylEwing I hope you begin to feel better soon - this doesn't sound like fun at all. Hugs.

:)

(Edited to add the maths bit!)

I am using a CGM so I can see that I am fairly consistent overnight. We have actually increased my carb ratio too..all in all its just up up up :)

Thanks for your help. Yes, I am an old hand at this. New everything on day1 when it shot up. I have a great educator/nurse (we call them educators) I am communicating with but she deals with numbers and not so much the emotion:)

Well at least it proves you are human and not a machine :) Quite agree it's very frustrating when this happens and you can't find a reason for it.
I know the change in seasons does affect many type 1's insulin needs that's obvious from reading different forums and peoples own experiences. My levels I would expect to go up by a unit or two at this time of year not the almost 6 units it has done in the last couple of weeks, then thinking about it I knocked 6 units off of my basal when I adopted a rescue dog, unfortunately she had to be put down two weeks ago due to a brain tumour so even though I still exercise everyday I do not walk as far as I did with her.
