Hi everyone!

I'm just about to receive that all important confirmation.

I have been very poorly for 6 years.. And I'm only 27, strangely I've been treated for everything else except diabetes as my doctors have been reluctant as I don't fit the box of teenager or over 50.
But finally a doctor took me seriously.

I'm finding it hard to explain to friends and family that this diagnosis is a good thing.

Has anyone else experienced a sense of joy at the diagnosis

There is a great deal to be thankful for when the cause of the illness is finally diagnosed, even if it is diabetes. At least you know what is wrong and what is to be done about it, and then you can get on with it. Diabetes is quite common and many people with it remain active. Having a positive attitude is always of great benefit too. A diagnosis comes as a shock to most people who haven't thought there was anything wrong, but you already knew something was wrong. I hope they can get you sorted out now.
