As a fairly new T2 diagnosed person I have the pricking paraphernalia. So far so good. But just wondering if I ever get a reading of over 13.9 mmol/L, which is the maximum "allowed" at any time I think, what should I do? Could I go hypo? (although I'm aware hypos are more common with T1s).

Thanks for any tips.

Thanks Sugarless Sue

So, briefly, what's the difference between hyper and hypo? I'm scared to look it up in case I end up with reams of mumbo jumbo!

Cheers

Hyper = high/over
Hypo = low/under

Symptoms of hyperglycaemia are like untreated diabetes, including among others tiredness, thirst, hunger.
Symptoms of hypoglycaemia include among others sweating, shaking, confusion.

Do you have ketone testing strips? If your blood sugar is very high you should see if you have ketones in your urine - normally there should be none or maybe traces. I've no idea what the maximum 'safe' temporary blood sugar reading is, sorry.
