SarahQ said:Hi Dave, The reason you do this is due to the very sudden drop in blood sugar. If it is a slow low you do not get the starving must feed face syndrome. I and many others who have had this problem in the past find the best thing to do is add up all the carbs eaten subtract 20 for the hypo and then bolus for the rest after 30 mins. This does minimise the damage of carb overload.
Before you do this though do check with your diabetes team. They might not aprove

On DAFNE they give different advice depending on how close the next meal is.
The treatment needed depends what has caused the hypo and how long ago the last bolus was.
