Have no idea how much to take. I split Lantus between waking up and bedtime. My control is good all day really, but on going to bed it all goes haywire.

Sometimes my sugar plummets like a stone, sometimes it shoots up at 4 to 6 am, and Whichever it is I wake on levels of 14 -16.

How can it plummet so quickly just because i've gone to bed and had more Lantus? So I dont know whether to forget the bedtime Lantus, or take MORE because sugar jumping up at 4am!!!

We are not allowed to give advice on this website; however to give an answer to your question, more needs to be known. How much Lantus do you take in total and how are you splitting it? The highs and lows may be caused by your fast-acting insulin. Are you on fixed doses or do you calculate the amount to take based on the amount of carbs you will eat?

Sorry to hear this, however, if you are in the UK try to get a referral to a DAFNE course. If you look it up. It is excellent at teaching you how to calculate your doses and carbs etc. Highly recommended
