I was diagnosed type 1 in March and feeling a bit overwhelmed with so many new things at once. What do you do when you are overwhelmed to calm yourself?

Hi @KarenChq Welcome to the forum. It's absolutely natural to feel the way you do, it can be quite overwhelming to start, but it does get alot better. I personally found talking to others helped me (and this forum as I could share my thoughts with other people in a similar boat), other techniques like exercise, walking in green spaces and deep breathing also helps alot too. All these new things will feel more adjusted in time, try and take each day at a time too ;)

Hi, baby steps at first, and don't be too hard on yourself. There's a lot to take in but it will get easier and become more second nature. I've been T1 for 39 years and it scares me still when I think about it, but you will soon learn what works for you. good luck xx

Wine, not whine. Haha

Seriously though, it does get over whelming and scary. One day at a time, one meal at a time. Your body will need time to adjust and numbers might not make sence. Do the best you can, don't beat yourself up.

One thing I found very helpful was to log food, insulin doses, time of day and figure out what works for you. Low carb keto keeps me steadiest but others manage with carbs somehow. You will find your way, it just takes time.

One of the best things I found was this forum. So many smart intelligent people who have a multitude of experiences. Stick around... Best thing you can do

Thank you for the kind replies. I do exercise quite a lot and know that it is just as therapeutic for the mind as it is for the body. With journaling and bs tests, I am beginning to find foods that raise the bs significantly and how exercise affects me. I am feeling encouraged from you.
