Overwhelmed

Hello, my name is Chris and I have been a type 1 for 39yrs. I still struggle with the mental side of diabetes sometimes. When you try so hard to control your sugar levels and nothing seems to work.
I have found just trying to step back and go back to basics helps for me. Problem is you can get into a vicious circle with correcting and changing routines. Sometimes just trying to relax and not think about it to much can help. I know doing that is not easy.

Hope everything gets better for you.

Hi, I don’t think there is a time limit on finding things difficult, we all go through the negative sides of this awful thing, I think we have to give ourselves permission to struggle sometimes, allow ourselves to feel angry and cheated.

But eventually remember how lucky we are in so many ways, dust ourselves off, grit our teeth and do our best. It doesn’t really matter what the future brings, what (if any) side effects catch up with us, the only thing that matters is that we try OUR best, everyone’s best is different and everyones best is perfect.

I am no psychologist but I reckon if it’s overwhelming, breaking problems down into digestible chunks and deal with it one chunk at a time.

You can always ask questions here, copy others strategies, the best part of that is you can ignore the advice that sounds daft (like mine) and just smile and wave.

best of luck
