Ozempic and retinopathy

I was prescribed Ozempic and was on it for around a month when I read that it can adversely affect vision. I have retinopathy and receive regular laser treatment which is adversely affecting my vision. In my part of the country it is impossible to get answers to medical questions, so I wondered if anyone has any views on this?

Hi j find this very interesting. I was put on to Rybelsus the oral form of Ozempic. I have had eye checks every year and all has been good. However just went this time and there is a small bleed in the left eye

A rapid decrease in blood sugar is known to accelerate retinopathy in the short term.
Doctors are advised to taper a patients BG down slowly to minimise this risk.
I presume this is where the correlation comes from

I've got background maculopathy in 1 eye (monitored no treatment required), and was put on Trulicity rather than Ozempic because of it

Hi all. I’m type 2. Using Tresiba, Gliclazide & Pioglitazone.
Started Ozempic last year. I’m on the 0.5 now.
I’m worried about the side effects.
Flashing lights in my eyes, dizziness.
I loose my balance often.
I’m sleeping more during the day/evening.
Not interested in TV or anything.
Lost my appetite. Feel nausea a lot.
Not eating regular meals, just wholemeal toast/marmite. Arla protien yogurts. Pots of porridge. Toasted cheese sandwich.
The diabetic nurse who put me in this Ozempic hasn’t been in touch for months.
I’m going to stop taking it.
I don’t recommend it for weight loss.
Has anyone else had side effects.
Best wishes
Maddy
