I have just recently had a pacemaker fitted but was very astonished at the way it was actually inserted.
Having watched the op on Youtube where the surgeon carefully eased the flesh into a pocket for the pacemaker to be lodged into I was quite taken aback when in my op it was rammed in with quite some force and was extremely painful even though I had an injection to numb the area at the beginning.
I asked some other patients about their experiences and was told the same thing had happened to them.
I do wonder whether this is necessary or why this happens as it is akin to medieval torture in my opinion!
