So I've been low carbing for months, I lost an initial 20lbs and have been maintaining without much progress. That's not the point of this post, it's sadness really, I had a small nutty bar from a cafe after a strenuous walk, I've not had anything sugary/carby since December, my body pain had been negligible since low carbing, however the next day after the small bar my sugars were stable but I felt like someone had scratched hot knives up and down my spine and limbs for hours, to the point I was nearly crying. Is there any tests to isolate what caused the pain?

So you have already been diagnosed to have Neuropathy by a doctor specializing in this?

Pain can literally be caused by some many different things, so better rely on proper testing before jumping to any conclusions.
As you are diabetic then starting with the electromyography is typically the place the docs wanna start except if you have other obvious potential root causes.

Debtryketo - I haven't experienced anything quite like you describe, but have you considered you would be sensitive to something in the nutty bar?

These days, if I eat gluten, within a short while, I have a visual migraine, with crushing fatigue and upset tummy for a couple of weeks. That happened recently, from commercially produced pork scratchings; somewhere it's hard to think there would be gluten of all things. (That's what I got for not examinining the label.)

I can't think you would still have nutty bar wrapper, but if you had it, it'd be interesting to see what was in it - just in case.

Otherwise, if those feelings are hanging around, best to mention it to the Doc.
