hi,

this is slightly embarrassing but can diabetes cause you to have pain (down there)?
i've got a very weird pain that comes and goes, in the female reproductive area, it's quite general and i can't seem to locate it to a single spot. i was just wondering if this could be diabetes related? anyone got experiences of it? i've had a smear test but yet to get results.

Get it checked out and make sure you get an answer.

I'd get it checked. It might not be anything to do with your smear. If you can't identify a specific spot for the pain, then it might be coming from anything in your pelvis eg your bladder, so it's best to get a definite answer.

It could be any number of things, but if it's an infection of some kind (not saying that it is) then it would be best getting antibiotics as soon as possible.

thank you and yes i agree it might not be anything to do with that, im even doubting if its in the vagina or something else which is causin that symptom. i called nhs 11 just now as the pain is really affecting me.

Something like cystitis or irritable bladder - just as examples - can cause bad pain. Even a groin strain can cause pain bad enough to affect your life.

Remember that sometimes pain can be referred pain from another area too.

If it's hurting you that much, definitely ask to be seen. Even if they only rule things out rather than give you an exact diagnosis, it will help. They may also be able to help with the pain.
