Hi
I wonder if you can advice. I have a pain in my heel (only one), it is very painfull to walk. I cannot see anything there or feel anything so not sure wether to go to doctors or see if it goes. I am type 2 diabetic. I do not want to make a fuss and go to doctors over every little thing

problems with the feet are fairly common in diabetics - neuropathy or bad circulation are known complications. You should talk to your doctor - that's what they are there for. Might not be a lot they can do to cure it, although there are drugs that help with the pain. They can also ensure other complications with the feet (ulcers etc) don't set in or go untreated

As Grazer says it's best that you discuss this with your GP as its causing you discomfort.

If you get the pain when you put weight on it...notably when first standing up after sitting, it could well be plantar fasciitis... inflammation of the tendon/ligament band under the foot. Not linked to diabetes. Do see your GP about it, and don't suffer in silence as untreated this can be very persistent. There are exercises that may help and some people find wearing a gel heel insert to be beneficial. In extreme cases injections can bring relief. I've had this....lasted several months for me, and very painful at times.

No this pain is not just when you stand up ,you are aware of it all the time but a lot worse when you are walking,it is now painful under the arch of the foot as well. Walking was VERY painful today. Will make an appointment to see the doctor.

one question, when you have severe pain, can you go to a hospital and simply check in or do you have to make an appointment for that? supid question sorry, but I just want to get familiar with your system in the UK

sounds very much like planter fasciatis...it's inflamation in tendon in the foot...i had it once and never felt pain like it ...had to get anti inflamitaries from gp but it took a couple of months before it went away see doctor asap...try a bag of frozen peas on the sole of the foot ..it gives some relief

You can get Voltarol (diclofenac) over the counter these days, which is a great non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug.

I've been prescribed it for every sprain and broken bone I've ever had.
