Pain in leg - type 1

Hi all,

I've managed to keep myself awake for the past few nights worrying. I'm booked in to see my GP tomorrow but wanted advice from all you lovely folk. I've been diabetic for 10 years, over the last year I haven't been the best with it, but HBA1c has been fine. Over the past week or so I've had pain in my left leg in the lower half at the back. It's almost like muscle strain but has been coming on and off for years.

Can anyone point me in the right direction and give some advice? My obvious worry is neuropathy and I terrify myself about losing a limb...

Obviously we can't diagnose anything on here - best wait to see your gp tomorrow. My initial thoughts are if your HBA1C is okay then I wouldn't have thought it would be related. However, I'm no doctor. Hopefully it'll just be a strained muscle or lack of potassium or something like that. Let us know how you get on.

Best of luck!

Agree with Lucie that it's best not to speculate what the problem may be, good luck and hope all goes well.

Thanks both :) you know how irrational the mind gets!

Indeed, often these things can be totally unrelated to diabetes but we get it into our heads that it is, just the same it's always best to get checked out just to be sure:)
