Painful toe for over two months

Hi there. I been having hard time with my right foot middle toe. I cant see any wounds but its so painful. The GP diagnose d as an abcess and got antibiotics. I done three courses. Then another diagnosis it was verracue. They gave an acid oinment with high strength and it damaged all the skin around. But didnt help. They tried freezing it but to no avail. I am in too mich pain and now they saying it can be fungal infection. I am being sent to podiatrist tomorrow morning.I am diabetic type 2 past 3 years. If anyone can help really appreciate.

Its not gout pain. Its light swelling and its red. They say its very common in diabetic people. If it's common then its over two months why cant they diagnose what it is actually.
