Paleo and Type 2?

Morning @MissMac - will be thinking of you today - hope all goes well at the doctor - ask lots of questions - let us know how you get on.

@Snapsy will do lovely, bricking it if honest as am already convincing myself he's not gonna be up to date but we shall see..end of the day it's my body and I am boss of it not someone who doesn't know the half of what you guys do..then again, he might surprise me!! x

Aww thank you, that means a LOT! I really hope you can get back on it, blimey if I can sit here with a cup of tea and no sugar and no biscuits have passed my lips since Friday...or cake...or bread...or pasta...(shall I go on) then ANYONE can get on it....that was so lovely to say I have been an inspiration because my head is still a big ole mess and confusion reigns strong! Still....the other half has woken up since Saturday night and is now being such a rock and SO supportive my heart is melting to be honest. I will post later once I know more but just wanted to say THANK you and GOD LUCK xx

I'll let you keep the olives on that one but thank you! I WILL get my head round it..just need to sort my depressional side and be able to read without becoming ever more depressed...I have seen this oopsie bread stuff around (I've scan read stupidily as now cannot find a thing I looked at ha ha) but google is my friend.
I cannot tell you how much you guys rock, I really can't...I feel like throwing a big ole party with NO cake and meeting you all! xx

This is so gorgeous - you make a big ole party with NO cake sound waaaaaaaay better than any party WITH cake - love it!

Well I am in Canada so I will probably have to miss your party and that is a shame I also can't stand olives or avocados but lots of people love them and they are great low carb foods. Oopsie bread is awesome amazing and all around your best friend. It is tough enough to make a sandwich or burger without falling apart and it TASTES GOOD. Unlike a lot of low carb breads. It is also easy to make. You will get you head around this. We all started where you are to one degree or another and it is manageable. It is just going to take some time. Give yourself that time and be kind to yourself.

Apart from the sugar stuff which really is a no go area I think you should make a list of the foods you know you can eat and like without upsetting your IBS . You say you didn't eat much meat well fine if you don't like it you don't have to eat it just because you now have diabetes there is nothing worse than trying to force yourself to eat what you really don't like. I don't eat red meat sausages or bacon because I don't like them Work with what you can eat and if you are able to test your blood see how your BG reacts to them you need to test a food two or three times to judge it. No one can tell you what to eat or not because we are all different and react in different ways to food it is all trial and error but I am sure you will get there and it will soon not seem so daunting

I would say that anyone with a long term condition such as diabetes very quickly and inevitably becomes their own expert. I am amazed - daily - not only by the similarities between my own experience and that of others on this forum, but also by the differences. Remember that there is no one size fits all policy with diabetes, and everyone's different, and you're unique.

Your doctor will I hope be a good starting point - but remember there is so much information out there as well to draw on.

And yes, you are the boss! And what a fantastic boss you are too!

Well to be fair my diet was pretty much an unchaperoned 4 year old at an all you can eat buffet (love that quote) but hey ho....are food colourings LCHF? pmsl We can jazz up some...ummmm I dunno....quineo or whatever the hell it is called leave alone spelt! x

Looks like I'm saving some flight money then eh? Thank you though!! xxxx

Hi MissMac,

Paleo is really just another version of low carb, but perhaps not as high fat as some other low carb diets. Most people on strict paleo avoid all dairy, which i would find impossible, but some people find that dairy raises their sugar a bit or stops them losing weight, causes IBS etc.

I would say 60-70% of my calories at the moment come from nuts, double cream, butter and eggs. I don't eat vegetables or salad at all, so there are many ways of doing it. Also, have attempted intermittent fasting........can't keep it going for 24 hours, but I am managing to miss breakfast completely a lot of mornings, which I am sure is helpful.

Hmm, I really sympathise. The bowel thing - my gluten intolerance took years to diagnose, but now I avoid gluten, wheat etc. I am so much healthier., and my guts work without going into spasm, feeling nauseous and so on. It may be that a lower carb. approach and even possibly trying whether you have specific food intolerances - gluten/wheat, lactose blah-blah-blagh - by excluding each in turn for a month. You'll find yourself treating your body as a research lab anyway now you want to control your diabetes. Just a thought, and I'd hate to put you under any more pressure, but some of us have diabetes and these other wretched conditions too. You can be assured of loads of support in this forum.

Hiya! Well I've decided that I'm gonna go down a paleo type line as cannot stomach a full on meat fest though I know it features highly in both...I am calming down with wanting to cut everything as I cannot do without my tea and have decided if I adopt a different way of eating then some "bad" things can feature and I will work on those once I am sorted with the main diet, feeling SO much less confused and stuff and now have some decent time off to sort it out and get cooking! Actually feel a bit excited!!! xx

I had another hypo this morning. This time I was aware of what it was, tested my bs level and took some glucose tablets
