Has anyone else got pancreatitis and been told you have diabetes because of this I was diagnosed with type 2 6months ago could this be the reason I have diabetes? Might sound a silly question but I was just wondering

Hi,

Your pancreatitis could be a factor - but it isn't always.
That link that @GrantGam gave is to a section of the forum for type 3cs, but it is perfectly possible to have type 2 and a history of pancreatitis, but not type 3c.

Sorry if that isn't very helpful! Maybe you could compare your experiences with the 3cs.

From what i have seen, a lot of NHS staff don't recognise 3c as a distinct form of diabetes, so you may need to ask for a referral to a specialist.

Hope that helps.

As @Brunneria has implied, it may be coincidental that your diabetes diagnosis and pancreatitis were fairly close together.

The truth is, you really won't know if they are related until you undergo tests from a specialist Dr.
