I also have experience of something like a 'panic attack'. It can control your life. I noticed that anything diabetes-related that releases adrenalin brought it on: getting close to a hypo, injecting insulin too early, or even my high sugar levels returning to normal quite quickly. When you feel anxious, try measuring your sugars and explaining the way your body feels by assessing what they might be doing.
Having said that, although my diabetes was linked to the triggering my panic attacks, I still needed to resolve the underlying cause of anxiety.
I have gone from those horrible experiences to having a life that I'm really happy with, with no room for panic attacks. You will get over it too so don't ever give up hope.
