Did anyone watch Panorama last night?

It made me feel sick watching the "care" that was being provided to a vulnerable group of clients What concerned me was that there was a them and us mentality, physical and verbal abuse, no obvious therapy, a dismal atmosphere. resembling prison type surroundings. I find it abhorrent when I see man's inhumanity towards fellow human beings.
This is what the CQC had to say about it.

There is a link to the programme at the bottom of this article.

Why not just get in ther and SACK some people?!?

Your absolutely right CC - it is sickening!!!

I recorded this last night and have yet to watch it, the programme description sounded awful and that's without watching it.

I thought it was absolutely outrageous and I'm not ashamed to admit that I shed a tear or two whilst watching the 'care' handed out by the thugs in charge.

I can understand that some of the residents in these secure residential homes must be challenging they certainly do not deserve to be systematically tortured and thats what it looked like to me

I know of a senior carer that pulled the buzzer alarms out of walls in rooms of residents that called frequently in an elderly residential home. This left them without the facility to call, and these people would be needing to use the commodes, and couldn't get out of bed by themselves without a Carer being there. I know it was mentioned to the Manager-but nothing ever came of the complaint from other staff.....

I know there are some fantastic carers, but it is such a shame that a few people let the genuine nice ones down so badly

Finally watched this last night and was absolutely appalled at the conduct of these so called carers. The young girl Simone will be traumatised for life as will poor Simon, we can only hope that the 13 staff suspended are convicted and sentenced to prison for serious misconduct and assault and lessons will be learnt from this programme.

The only people to blame here are the people who carried out these sickening attacks, very little can be done at a regulation level, in my opinion, EVERY inspection would be unannounced, announced inspections give the service prior warning and a chance to cover up stuff like this.

As already said visits by regulators whether announced or spot check would do little to stop this type of thing.

IMHO all these residential homes need to be made to install recorded CCTV in communal areas, which can then be spot checked by the regulatory body at any time that would go a long way to stopping this kind of abuse.

That's very true Sid, can't believe they are not installed already! :?

The Managers, who should have been monitoring everything that goes on, would say that they are too expensive. They are the ones at fault for not doing their job.
