Sooo, arrived at my last hosp appt at 10.04am, got to reception, checked in and sat down for my 10.15am appt.

10.35 came, clinics running late, 10.45am I get my bloods done, weight, machine upload etc done gets rushed in to see dietician which I was unaware of, however she was a new one and wanted to introduce herself to me, great ! To come out to find its 11.05am so I grabbed the nearest member of staff to ask them how long I was going to be as I needed to put another ticket on car she said she was unsure but it will be as quick as possible, but she asked for my car registration to inform the car park company, so knowing I was running late I took my sugar levels as I knew they were dropping slightly, and needed to top up for my journey home whenever that would be! Sugar level checked 4.3, didn't know when I was gonna be leaving..

11.20 came, I had a banana and pasty and few left over sweets lying around in my bag , I was then called into the doctors room around 11.45 and then left at 11.55 checked levels again and they were 6.0 fab off I go ... Leaving car park at 12.10pm

2 weeks later I have had a letter from parking eye to pay £70, I appealed straight away due to clinic running late etc, explained about my registration being given to a member of staff,

I received a letter yesterday saying that the appeal had been rejected still, I haven't contact hospital as yet as I would of thought it would have gone this far, now I don't like playing the diabetic card either so I never actually explained in depth about the diabetes in which I don't think I need to yet I may have to.

What are your thoughts?
 
we have to pay before we leave the SRHO if we go over the time on the ticket to avoid this, doubt you will be able to get away with it I'm afraid
 
Off the track in the Daily Mail yesterday they had a particular item about tickets and fines and there is a student who's got a site that's 70% successful about winning these sought of arguments I think it's

So annoying, there should be some allowance for appointments running late.

Why not ask a member of the diabetes clinic if they could write you a letter to say that the clinic was running late that morning and matters were out of your control. Hope you get out of paying the fine, good luck.
 
I had almost the same worry last time I was at my diabetes clinic. Although luckily I just got back to my car within a few minutes of the ticket expiring. But I had paid for 2.5 hours and it took them that long to see me. ugh. I think you should write to the company and provide a letter from the hospital stating your appointment went over time. Also your sugar did drop low and you had to treat that too... running to get to your car wouldn't have worked too well anyhow. I find if I start moving when I'm too low I just drop even further and it takes me longer to recover. Hopefully this company will listen and waive the fine for you.
 
Parking Eye as a matter of procedure (I have read) reject all first line appeals. I would take this to the next level industry level appeal 7 cite the fact that your BS had fallen to a level that you would be unafe to drive and you needed the the time to get it to a level that you were safe to drive!

It sounds like a nightmare over there in regard to parking. At one of our big hospitals they have two huge multi level carparks and you get a ticket on the way in and before you leave you hand your ticket over and pay so theres no surprises in the mail.
 
One of the hospitals here has the barriers down until you remove a ticket from the machine. When leaving you just put the ticket in another machine and it tells you how much it wants, once the machine is fed money your ticket is punched and this ticket then goes in the machine at exit to raise the barrier.
