Type 2 PCOS and Diabetes type 2

I will definitely try again low carb so. I just was able to do one day on low carb the only time I tried but I can give another try to it.

Thank you.
Good luck for you too.

Yes that can be a short term side effect. If you can pull through and continue it does get better. Also make sure you drink enough water. That can help.

That's the hardest. But yes I will try to go on it for a few days. Not sure if I will can but at least I will try.

I love refined carbs a lot to give up on them I guess.

I feel really deprived when I try to go low carb.
But I will try again probably.

Thank you a lot.
Refined carbs are very addictive and I do completely understand the cravings for them. It does get better.
Do you enjoy cheese, meat, full fat yogurt, any above ground vegetables with butter and your favourite seasonings?

The first days are the hardest and my advice would be plan your meals ahead so you're not tempted by grabbing a sandwich or something easy and get yourself some other 'treats' in like some of your favourite cheese, ham or nuts etc to have whenever you feel like snacking on something carby.

I would never have believed anyone that said I could live without bread or pasta but now I can surprisingly easily say no to them.

I love all the foods you mentioned too (except the vegetables but I guess I could like them with some butter on them).

Thank you. I will try to plan them ahead so. And have basically a lot of them on house so I would probably feel more likely to eat them?
That's the way I feel now, but I want to believe it's possible.

Well then you already have some choices beyond refined carbs.
Any above ground veggies you like more then others lightly sauté them in a bit of butter and salt with a nice peice of protein and you have a wonderful meal.
You can even grate some cheese on it.
Do you have a BG meter?

@Diabetes.PCOS have you not been offered metformin tablets. They returned my periods and have 2 kids on steady month on month metformin taking?

Yes. I will try that maybe tomorrow. Thank you <3.
No, I don't. I was thinking about get one but I didn't yet.

No. My doctor said he wanted to try with metformin and only gave me a pill. And they said if I hadn't huge consequences from the hyperglycemia it wasn't really necessary.

Oh do get one they are invaluable.
Once you see how certain carbs like pasta and potatoes spike your BG it will encourage you to make different choices.
Take each day as a new chance to make better choices for your health.

I will surely. I've been looking for one only for so long. But always end up not buying one for some reason. But I will surely.

Thank you.

I was on the trials in London for metformin for pcos. Well before i was diagnosed with diabetes. 1990s. I had to come of it for ivf professor.
I returned on it on diagnosis of diabetes in 2002. I have saved myself ivf by ovulating on metformin and regular periods with softer facial hair and a loss of approximately 2st in weight.
Whenever i stop it longterm my periods disappear i get hard fat which i cannot exercise off.
My bgs are only improved a little compared to insulin but still an improvement.

I wouldnt have my fantastic 2 boys if it wasnt for metformin.

I strongly disagree if no periods due to pcos.
Mind u does your dr want you to lose weight before you plan a family or you dont need to worry about fertility at the moment?

I have lost nearly 4st in 10mths on insulin and metformin has contributed towards that.
Metformin which had successful trials in the US before here in uk. I think in the late 80s early 90s for pcos treatment.

The first week suxs big time even the first few weeks can be a challenge.
This is what to expect the first week, besides being, flat for a week and hungry for the first 2 days, then it stops I'ts also a good low carb site. Some people find it easier to phase in low carb a bit at a time, That didn't work for me, I had to go cold turkey. I was on 30g of carb a day. That use to be a snack for me.
