Peanut butter issues

Ok, so what peanut butter can I eat. I absolutely love peanut butter my favourite is good old American Jif creamy. Which is hard to get in the UK luckily you can get it from a few Internet sites and our friend who from the states comes over all the time and brings it with him (2lb jar) :D

It has carbs 7g and sugars 3g per 2 tablespoon a serving about 32g. The only issue I can see is that it is using Fully Hydrogenated veg oils (rapeseed and soybean). I read somewhere that we should stay away from hydrogenated, is this true? I may cry about that that, as it's sooo creamy and the best ever.

The walden farms peanut whip is basically sick in a jar. So I got some Whole Earth smooth organic in readiness I tried some, it's not Jif, but ok and will do if I have too. It's 9.9g carbs and 3.7g sugars per 100, so I think works out about the same if not slightly better per serving. But is just using palm oil.

What do you guys reckon?

Thanks

Scot

Scot, its very easy to make your own peanut butter, its a long time since I bought any ready made.
If you blend it long enough,, and add oil, you can make it as creamy as you like, sometimes I roast the nuts. sometimes I dont, add sea salt add sweetener, experiment a little, my friend adds a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce, another one adds chilli to hers.
Making your own will be lower carb as well.

Not made it myself, as not a fan but my daughter recently made some. She has vowed to never buy shop bought again. It must have been good and easy for her to say that!!!!!!!!!!

Like whitbyjet says quick, easy , adapt to your taste, lower carb.

What's not to love if you are a peanut butter fan

Aldi do one called Grandessa which is very nice, the ingredients are 93% Peanuts, Brown Sugar, Vegetable oil and Sea Salt, it has 1.9g of carbs per 15g serving which is enough to cover a slice of toasted Burgen bread.

Thhe problem is I am a very BIG Peanut Butter fan and I only like American peanut butters, Jif and Peter Pan, no peanut butter in the UK compares to the taste and texture.

BH, carry on eating it if you wish. When I was eating nuts I avoided all PB with hydrogenated fat in them, I knew about those sort of bad fats before it became public knowledge.

If you want a smoother, creamier PB try this recipe, but be warned, it's addictive!

Let butter get to room temp so it's nice and soft. Put equal amounts of PB (bought or made) and butter in a blend and whizz it up. Add a bit of sweetener to taste. Cool it, spread it or eat it off the spoon, it's amazing.

wiflib - thats exactly. how I make our peanutbutter, sometimes I make it with cold pressed unrefined peanut oil, but its much nicer with pure butter, then add seasoning to suit your taste, a jar doesnt last very long in our house.
Making it with butter gives it a wonderfully creamy texture, oh I HAVE to make some now, a decent slice of my low carb bread with it YUM

It is lush. I really can't eat it anymore as it was too tempting to have in the house. My addictive streak would not let me have a spoonful a day, more like a spoonful every 30 minutes!
