Has anybody else found that they get rises in blood levels 6-12 hours after they have ate peanuts? Salted peanuts?
Reason I ask- on a few odd occasions when I need to add some calories I have had a 90g pack of KP original salted peanuts (supposedly 5.6g carb for 100g). Some days I may have them are pre gym or sometimes on a Saturday night.
Tonight I have looked back at days of having a level that literally has jumped and realised its days when I have peanuts. Ie today had them pre gym.. Didn't bolus as it was pre workout. As usual the peanuts at 14.20..gym at 14.50 and levels were 6.3. After gym 7.0. Flat lined until 20.05. Then at 23.15 suddenly 11.8!! Last ate at 16.45.. Definitely not bolus and other nights are normal unless I have peanuts....sometimes its 10 hours later, sometimes 12 hours.
This happened on pump when I had perfection 99% of the time..
Just can't see why peanuts would so raise my levels.
Tonight for my tea was usual mackeral salad with usual fruit n chia n flax seed...normally totally flat line with these foods with walnuts.
...they have been replaced by almonds...not as nice but not a bad substitute
Try smoked almonds , they are delicious and have the same carb content as 'normal' almonds.
100g of peanuts contains 16g carbs, that's equal to about 5 points on your glucose level. Makes perfect sense! All I can add is that the GI of salted peanuts on a scale of 1 to 100 is 14. This is about as low as it gets. This implies that they are absorbed slowly and I would expect their effect to be delayed,

The ones listed in the original post have 8.8g per 100g according to the bag....100g of peanuts contains 16g carbs, that's equal to about 5 points on your glucose level. Makes perfect sense!
Point taken - but do we trust them? Who audits these food values? The ones listed in the original post have 8.8g per 100g according to the bag....
