Hi

because I think about diabetes too much, I am wondering if the reason peanuts or any other nuts reduce my numbers by 3 points, (been bouncing along at 8 today, I have eaten some peanuts and I dropped like a stone to 5.5) could be that my liver is throwing out an awful lot of glucose?

I have not eaten anything today because I woke up on 16 due to an experiment with my humalin so because I am obviously hungry (not actually very hungry for some reason) I ate the nuts to try to avoid my bg rising.

I know the liver chucks out glucose but does this sound like a normal amount? I am assuming when I ate something without the carbs my body decided I no longer needed the extra help?

Just seems to me to be an extreme reaction? is there such a thing as an overactive liver?

There are carbs in peanuts, around 8% as a rule. The flavored ones can be much more, have seen 48/100g for some sweet chilli nuts in Asda.

Your liver may be in "throat cut mode" dumping glucose into your system to help you survive. Eating something may well have turned it off.

If I eat nothing my bg goes up past the point of being worth it by 8 o clock in the evening. Starving my evening numbers will be over 7. With a light lunch of tuna salad it will be 4.5.

Edit. I'm now 84kg and standing at 6'2" with a 34 waist so may trigger the liver pretty easily?

Thankyou, this could be part of my problem as its very normal for me to eat at 5am the not again until 6-7pm at dinner just because of being busy all day, interesting thanks

Peanuts are my drug of choice. Sadly they are not good for me.

I have no idea about your reaction but in your investigations bear in mind that peanuts are not nuts but legumes, do you have the same reaction with peas, beans or lentils?
