Noticed yesterday that a well-known supermarket where Tess co-operates are selling a no-added-sugar 'pear drops' drink. My inner child wanted to walk into diabetic clinic after drinking a strong solution of this, with the smell on my breath, (with a good bs level of course) just to get them worried!

Not that I would, but it gave me a giggle.

Strange the effect packaging can have, if they'd just called it 'pear flavour' I wouldn't have taken any notice.

I would be very suspicious of the pear drop squash. Did you read all the label? I will certainly look for it the next time I am in there. I used to lurrrve pear drops!

Hi Mary

I only read the name and chuckled! The association between high bs and the smell of pear drops just made me imagine going to clinic with breath smelling of pear drops but without high blood sugar, as a practical joke. No idea of the carb/natural sugar content of the drink, although 'pear drops' and 'no added sugar' didn't seem to go together, because of the link between high bs, ketones and 'pear drop' breath. Like seeing a sign advertising 'hyper low" prices but amusing instead of annoying! In the same way, I'd never use toiletries etc containing honey, it wouldn't feel right even if it had no effect on blood sugar.
