Watched gullivers travels with jack black. Really funny, cheered me up. Now off to bed to read my book. Night all :)

Nothing like a bid of personal competition.

Just found out that the phone app I use to time and track my walking sessions allows my to shadow race against previous saved sessions, effectively racing myself ( Don't you just love gadgets).

The result is a number of personal bests
- just completed 10km walking sessions on consecutive days for first time.
- best ever time over 10 km
- first time I was able to maintain sub 9 min per km over 10 km
- Won race against yesterday's self by over 1.100 meters

Today's session

Only downside is I do not know when I will be able to better that!

I'm going to be painting my hallway today so not going far.

Good luck everyone.

It's called runtastic and I have the iPhone version although I understand you can get it on other platforms. It times and tracks using gps. Main reason I chose it is that it automatically posts exercise sessions to my myfitnesspal food diary.

Painting sounds quite a bit of physical exercise even though the step count may not reflect it

The basic app is free on the iPhone but you have to get the paid for pro version for sum of the more fancy features. Suspect free version more than good enough for most people's purposes.

I use runkeeper and it does much the same things. Also free for the basic version which is all I need!

It doesn't count steps, but it records distance etc. so I combine it with my pedometer when I go for long walks or a run etc

Runtastic does not count steps either.

I use an app called Pacer for that. I just have them both working at the same time.

At the end of the day it does not matter what tools we use, as long as they help keep us motivated to go out there and increase our level of physical activity.

runtastic also syncs to myfitnesspal and auto deducts the calories for the exercise we do

your 10k walk worries me as it takes me 55 minutes to RUN 10k lol
