"Pens" That Stop Working

Does this happen to others? My Lantus "pen" dialer gets completely stuck and I'm unable to use it. Last week whilst in Spain I had to throw one away, and as I didn't have another with me, had to buy a box of five. Today I have the same problem .....

Hi @PansyP

Is it the Solostar pen you use for your lantus (the disposable type), if so you might want to have a look at the following thread as another member was experiencing the same just a few days ago:

All pens can malfunction and that is why it's best to keep spares, but overall they are a reliable device.

I just forget which pen I was using before my Dr changed me over to the Solostar disposable pens, but I always thought the Solostar was a flimsy pen although in fairness it didn't break too often.

If you want to change to a reusable pen then you will need to order the 3ml cartridges and request the ClickStar pen, I'm sure your Dr can arrange this or you could ask your DSN to write to your gp practice and ask them to change your prescription over.
 
Thanks once more noblehead! I also think I should get an insulin passport. How do I go about this?
 
I've not got a Insulin Passport but I think you can obtain them from pharmacies or your gp practice @PansyP
