I have peripheral neuropathy that is becoming increasingly painful. I take amitriptyline 50mg that has little effect and paracetamol again little effect. The pain is now keeping me awake at night and is at its worst. Has anyone tried the decompression socks for their neuropathy and if so which ones do you use?

How long have you been taking the Amitriptyline? It can take a few weeks to kick in.

Will the Dr up the dose? 25mg didn't seem to make any difference for me. 50mg stopped the pain completely. I recall them saying they could go up to 100mg for me if needed. And there were other meds they could try if the Amitriptyline didn't work.

You have my sympathy. It's horrible to deal with. All socks made mine worse. In bed, wearing no socks and having a light sheet over my feet helped a bit. But even then struggled to sleep sometimes.

But everyone is different.

I can't say anything on decompression socks, as I can't put them on. I have PN though, but caused by failed surgery spinal problems, I take Gabapentin for it, they do help, thank goodness, I still have some pain flashing around but I've chosen to stay below the full dose of 2700mg to keep some back for if it worsens. So if you don't mind taking meds, I would ask about them. I'm also on 100mg of Amitriptyline for postherpetic neuralgia, I was already taking them before PN got so bad, so know they didn't really help.
