Anyone who asks a question about diabetes without thinking what they're asking.
Rather than my Humalog Purple cap, just opened my monthly sack of goodies from pharmacy, to find I have Humulin with a green cap! Are these substitutable or would it be a better idea to take them back?
TIA
Tom

I'd double check with pharmacy just to be sure.

give them a ring , i dont use that type of insulin so cant help...sorry

Don't use it and just take the insulin back to the pharmacy and point out their mistake, however it may well be a mistake by your gp practice in which case a new prescription needs to be requested.

Humulin works slower than Humalog and depending on which Humulin could be much slower

Take it back and get the correct stuff or you will have issues with your control

Definitly a Pharmacy error. The dispensing label says 'Humalog' ;-) Tom

Went back to chemist, and pharmacist was very apologetic and gave me the correct Insulin. Why cant I be given Morphine in Error sigh ;-)

DEfinitely right to take it back, a dispensing error is a serious business.

I had the same thing happen to me - right insulin, but wrong patient. I ended up with "Mr Smith's" prescription which was the same insulin but about double the qauntity. I could have used it, but took it back and pointed out the error. I don't know whether he got mine or not.

REmember this should have been checked 2 or three times before you get it.

They were very apologetic and sometime later I received a letter from head office detailing investigations etc.

It's a good job you picked up on it and got sorted straight away. I was on the wrong insulin for almost three years! Gp didn't read the letter from consultant properly and put me on Humalog instead of Humalogmix 25 which explained why no matter what I did my BGs were up the spout.
