please help, if u read my other posts about my treatment im now on 20 units of lantus as i was throwing loads of hypos,last dr said keep it as that,we would talk today,since monday these are my bloods 6.8,1.7,13.0,11.7,11.3 ,tues, 13.2,10.2,12.3,8.9 today,7.2 ,11.7..just spoke to dr he says leave as 20 units,if it doesnt go down higher it to 22, i asked about going basal bolus,he said he didnt think it would suit me as i dont need much insulin with the 20 units,i am feeling so down and rough,i really dont know what to do,he says go back in 3/4 wks if ive probs..I HAVE NOW i said n he said hed prefer me high than hypoing often,id prefer single numbers,before this i was fine except one high ov an evening and lots of hypos, i really do feel so blooming fed up,i need some help ,thankyou so much in advance

Those aren't terrible results (the current ones).

I know some people might hang me from the forum header for saying that, but they're not. Perfect 4-6 results constantly are a myth. Unless you're Sir Steve Redgrave and do about 8 or 10 injections a day. ;)

  • The only thing I'd be concerned about is the 1.7. Falling that low usually makes doctors' eyes bulge as they read your diary. So.. yeah be careful.
  • Try a little light exercise when you're around 12/13 - a half hour walk, say to the shops.
  • If you can't do so because of work, just go for a short but intensive walk around the building (use lots of stairs, lol). If your boss complains just get a letter from your doctor (generally speaking companies back down in the face of medical opinion).
  • One last thing: My general rule is "BBB". Basal Bolus is a *******. I'm sorry, I'm on it, I know. If I could do 20 units of Lantus a day and get your results, I'd be running the next London marathon to celebrate.
*(well, my actual rule uses a different B word but I'm being polite since this is a family rated forum!)
 
ok thanks the reason he lowered lantus was i was between 5/8 mmols b4 meals but was throwing some nasty hypos 3/4 times a day so he said better a bit higher than that low,its a mystery y i throw hypos,what are your bloods b4 meals,pm me if u want :wink:
